Bipasha Basu dogged by controversies

Well seems like if there’s one thing that the actress now needs more than another hit is winning favours with Lady Luck.

Bipasha Basu dogged by controversies

Professionally, actress Bipasha Basu may be on a high, but her personal life seems to have hit a rather rough patch of late.

Troubles just don't seem to end for the star, who finds herself making news for all the wrong reasons one after another. The biggest blow for her perhaps, still remains her split with longtime boyfriend, actor John Abraham. But it has less to do with the break-up and more to do with the fact that they have apparently parted on a bitter note.

According to buzz, John — who has maintained his silence over the break-up — is miffed with the actor for having gone about town declaring her single status and even tweeting about their personal life. And he’s even made it clearly known to Basu that he’s upset.

Break-up apart, and soon after having to dodge rumours about her apparent link-ups first with co-star Rana Daggubati and then with Hollywood’s Josh Hartnett, came the infamous tape scandal.

The leaked tapes, which had been doing the rounds for sometime, had politico Amar Singh speak explicitly with someone called Basu.

Close on the heels of this one, Basu found herself in the eye of yet another storm   when she was recently detained at the airport for carrying undeclared goods. Here too things did get sorted out eventually, but not before apparently creating a dent in Basu’s viability as an endorser.

Trade talk has it that the recent ongoings have put her under scanner in the endorsement world. And apparently marketing gurus of the ad world are reconsidering her endorsement potential. Confirming this a source from the ad industry admitted that “her image has certainly taken a beating.”

“Her split with John, the infamous tape leaks and now this have earned her negative publicity that go against the image required for the endorsements,” the source explained. However, another ad guru insists that with John or without him, “she is a star in her own right.”

"So, these things are unlikely to have immediate repercursions, but she needs to be careful and henceforth steer clear of controversies that may damage her reputation,” the ad man added. “Besides she has a good coterie of films to bank on, so she definitely won't be out of circulation for sure.”
