The second edition of the Nashik International Film Festival (NIFF) was inaugurated by Maharashtra deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal.

The second edition of the Nashik International Film Festival (NIFF) was inaugurated by Maharashtra deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal at Kalidas Kala Mandir here.
 
The four-day-long festival which began last evening, was declared open in the presence of various dignitaries including minister of state for Health Shobha Bachhav and film and stage artists Sachin Khedekar and Manoj Joshi.
 
The event has been jointly organised by city-based Metro Foundation of India, Kalavaibhav Sanstha and Reva film club, NIFF director Mukesh Kaneri told reporters.
 
The fest has received 350 entries including films from Germany and France, he said.
 
The entries, including 27 mini films, 12 documentaries and 10 animation have been received from abroad and cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Surat, Banglore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi, Kaneri added.
 
It will have a competition section of mini films, documentaries and animation for which Maharashtra goverment has sponsored prizes of Rs 3 lakh.
 
Golden Camera Award, instituted in the honour of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, will also be presented on the occasion. Veteran Bollywood actors Dharmendra and Asha Parekh will be honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the concluding ceremony on August 2, which is expected to be attended by chief minister Ashok Chavan.
 
The festival will screen award winning Marathi, Hindi and English movies including Phalke's Kalia Mardan at different theatres between July 31 and August 2.
