Barbara Mori, Lisa Ray clear cancer myths

They are two proud cancer survivors and now they have come together for a docu-drama that will see them talking about their experiences of fighting the disease and emerging triumphant. We are talking about actors Barbara Mori and Lisa Ray. Titled 1-a-Minute, the documentary on breast cancer will be directed by actor Namrata Singh Gujral and is scheduled to release later this year.

It will feature other celebs too like singer-actor Olivia Newton-John and yesteryears’ Bollywood actor Mumtaz. People who have seen near and dear ones battle the disease like politician Priya Dutt will also be seen in the documentary.
Spiritual and wellness guru Deepak Chopra is expected to play himself and American actor Kelly McGillis (who starred opposite actor Tom Cruise in Top Gun) will be the narrator.

A source says, “The documentary wanted to feature heavyweights who were also cured cancer patients. As soon as Barbara and Lisa were approached, they gave a nod to the project. Both were very touched by the objective of this docu-drama and they both wanted to do their bit to help cancer patients across the globe.

Both the beautiful ladies are symbols of hope for all those suffering from cancer across the world as they not only fought the disease but also bounced back to lead a perfectly normal life.”
While Lisa just went through stem cell surgery, Barbara was diagnosed with early stage cancer and has been cured.

Barbara says, “It is going to be a wonderful film. What I have heard of it, it is very inspirational and I’m glad that they approached me to be a part of this project. My heart goes out to all the people across the globe who are suffering from cancer. I have one little advice for them — have faith that tomorrow will be a better day and that you can beat cancer. It is this positive attitude that works wonders. If someone has resigned to his or her fate, it is very difficult for the doctor to motivate that person to stand up tall and fight cancer.”

She adds, “I hope the video reaches out to all the people of the world as I hear there are many big names from across the world talking about cancer and sharing their experiences. My dream is to see a cancer-free world and I will do my best to support as many programmes as possible to tackle cancer.”
