Bappi Lahiri claims of Jennifer Lopez using his tune in 'On the floor'

Music composer Bappi Lahiri will tell you why his music is ahead of its time. Hollywood singer Jennifer Lopez’s recently released song, On the floor, brought back the Lambada tune that he had included in a track in the Sunny Deol-starrer Ghayal in 1982. He sings the tune to remind us and adds, “It’s the same tune I had used back in the day and JLo got it back now! In India, Bappi Lahiri brought musicians like Samantha Fox, Boy George, and Apache Indian! I can tell you that today’s music is not original, but my music was way ahead of its time.” The composer further states he is a huge fan of international singers JLo, Shakira and Madonna, but finds present pop sensation Lady Gaga “okay”.

The musician hit another bull’s eye with his recent collaboration on a song for an Indo-American film with renowned rapper MC Hammer. Lahiri also sang a track, You are my chicken fry, in the recently released Ragini MMS.

At the moment, Bappi’s waiting with bated breath to see the final outcome of the film, It’s Rocking Dard-E-Disco, in which he will make his acting debut as a business tycoon, who owns a chain of nightclubs in Mumbai. “I’m playing the disco king and I think the character couldn’t have suited anyone better,” says Bappi, recalling actor Mithun Chakraborty in Disco Dancer and says he’d love to work with him again.

“I had composed its music and when Bappi Lahiri and Mithun come together, the film is bound to be a blockbuster! And Disco Dancer is history… they used it in the Hollywood film You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and have credited my name along with Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson,” Lahiri beams.
