After bringing out an album to raise funds for the aid of Somalian famine victims with American rapper MC Hammer, music composer Bappi Lahiri is planning to do a series of concerts in the US to raise even more money for the relief of the African nation.

“I have been in the US for the past one month and I have been recording my song with MC Hammer for the aid of Somalian people. I am told that I am the first Indian musician who is doing this for the country. So, many people of Somalian origin or who have their roots in the country have sent me emails congratulating me and urging me to do something more.

This is when I asked Hammer if I could do something more with him and he said that doing a concert is a good idea,” says Bappi. Hammer, one of the most controversial musicians in the US today, also communicated through Bappi that he would be doing a concert with him.

Bappi says that there was a full team of American musicians who collaborated with him to raise money for Somalia’s famine victims.

“The song was sung by M C Hammer and it is called Pleasures. I also had musicians like Keniya Lucas, Jessika Williams and Eriq in the team. The song was composed by Bappi Lahiri and was written by Diana Willamson.  The additional vocals of the song was done by Keniya Lucas and me.  We also recorded another song called Land Of Somaliya Rise Up, and it was recorded at Rusk Studio in Hollywood. The song will be released by the end of this year,” informs Bappi.

But why did Bappi suddenly record something for Somalia? Why not do something similar for India? “Of course, I am planning something for my country but I felt that Somalia needed this kind of an effort more than India right now.
