Bappa in Bollywood

B-Town is all geared up to celebrate the Ganpati festival in Mumbai, and for some it’s a double celebration ’cause it’s Eid too

Bappa in Bollywood

If there’s one festival that everybody in Bollywood celebrates with much devotion across cultures, class and religion, it is Ganesh Chaturthi. To start with, Salman Khan is a prime example of how one can have as much admiration and love for Ganesha even though he belongs to a different religion.

“Salman takes part in the Ganesha puja in his house. Salmanbhai thinks that Ganesh Chaturthi is a time to get together and donate for the poor. Even Eid is today. So, it’s time for a silent prayer,” said a close family member. Shilpa Shetty is also another huge devotee of the Lord. In fact, she was planning to do a Griha Pravesh on Ganesh Chaturthi. “She’s an ardent devotee of the Lord. She’ll be bringing a petite version of the Lal Baugcha Raja home this year,” says a close friend of the star.

Ektaa Kapoor is also a known devotee of the Lord. In fact, Ektaa is so particular about the Lord that a close friend of the filmmaker informed us that she doesn’t want to speak about it to the press.
“Ganesh Chaturthi is a time for all the Mumbaikars to celebrate and come together as one. Besides, it’s even more special and auspicious this year, as both Eid and Ganpati are being celebrated on the same day,” says Suniel Shetty, a Mangalorean but a strong believer of the Lord.

The health conscious Bipasha Basu makes an exception during Ganesh Chaturthi and indulges herself. Though the actress doesn’t get the Ganesha idol home, she makes sure she visits all her friends during the festival. “I have a lot of friends who get the idol home so I visit them during that time. I love mithai and modaks are something I love gorging on.”
