Backstreet Boys mesmerise Delhi with their live performance

Belting out chart-topping hits like Everybody, Show Me The Meaning and As Long As You Love Me, popular US boyband Backstreet Boys enchanted fans with their first live performance in the country.

With a promise to be back soon, the four-member band not only sang their all time hits, they danced and play-acted too, all to the delight of their crazed fans.

"This is our first performance in India and we don't know what to expect. Our fans know us and our chart superhits well enough, we are looking forward to having a good show," said the band before going onstage.

The Backstreet Boys were in the capital last night to headline the Romanov Red Rock 'n India concert which also featured artists like Richard Marx and Jayce Lewis.

Their show was divided into segments interspersed with funny videos which had each of the band members A J McLean, Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough super-imposed in some scenes from Hollywood movies including Matrix and Enchanted.

"Do you want us to come back soon? Its a pleasure and a privilege performing here today," Brian told the screaming fans, as Nick added, "India, you have waited for so long, now stick around. We love you."

Dressed mainly in black, the pop group also put on the garb of aliens to dance to their hit track Larger Than Life alongwith four female back-up dancers. They also sung some new numbers from their latest album This Is Us.

One of the oldest boyband in the US, Backstreet Boys were formed way back in 1993 and also included a fifth member Kevin Richardson. He left the group in 2006 to pursue other interests leaving the band as a four-piece.

In last night's concert, the band was preceded by pop/rock musician Richard Marx, who sang some of his well-known tracks like Satisfied, Endless Summer Nights and his romantic number Right Here Waiting For You.

The rock fest also included performances by South African band Prime Circle, Swarathma from Bengaluru, Five Little Indians and Delhi-based band Indigo Children.

The bands are also going to perform as part of the fest in Bengaluru on February 21.
