B-Town goes for gold!

Just like the sports world, B-Town too is gearing up for the forthcoming London Olympics to be held in July.

B-Town goes for gold!

Following the much debated Mahesh Bhupathi-Rohan Bopanna-Leander Paes brouhaha, the entire nation is gripped by the Olympics fever. The prestigious sporting event that takes place once in four years is happening in London towards the end of July.

While sportsmen have already planned their itinerary, B-Town too seems to be putting their plans into place. Some  of them are planning to be there in London to cheer the athletes in their race for that coveted medal for the country.

Actress Deepika Padukone is all set to witness the historic tournament in London. The actor, who is quite busy with her erratic shooting schedules, took time out a couple of months ago to shoot for a motivational campaign for the Olympics. The actress, who is badminton champ, Prakash Padukone’s daughter,  is often a part of campaigns that benefit or encourage sports in India. Says a source close to her, “Deepika shot for a motivational campaign to encourage athletes participating in Olympics.

She has always spoken about how sports in our country needs that much required push and encouragement and that’s exactly what she is doing. Though she isn’t supporting any sport in particular, she is super excited about being an integral part of the historic event. It is difficult to certainly say if she will be going to London, but she does seem really keen to be there.”

Not too far away from Deepika is business scion Sidhartha Mallya,  who will also reportedly be at London. The England born-and-bred  Mallya, besides being extremely interested in sports, also has a personal equation with a couple of athletes. “I would love to be there, but I am not sure as yet. I don’t know where I will be  in July. Once I figure out my schedule, I may just decide to go,” hereveals.

Actor Farhan Akhtar, who is playing sprinter Milkha Singh’s character in a biopic to be directed by filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, too is reportedly planning a trip to London in July. While he doesn’t confirm this, he does say that it all depend on the film’s producers. “I would love to. It’s a great opportunity to witness something historic like the Olympics. I’m sure every Indian wants to be there to cheer and motivate the participating athletes,  but I’d be in a better position to talk about this once the producers announce the plan,” says Farhan. Farhan reportedly will be accompanied by Mehra to Olympics.

While tennis champ Mahesh Bhupathi will be participating, it is still unclear if wife Lara will be able to be by his side, considering they recently had a baby girl.

Sources say, many in B-Town may just begin gearing up to fly to London as the D-Day arrives closer!
