Ayaan gets knotty

The commitment phobic musician gets sentimental on the eve of his wedding to Neema Sharma

Sarod player Ayaan Ali Khan’s (son of maestro Amjad Ali Khan and Subhalaxmi) happiness knows no bounds. In the midst of preparing for his wedding ceremony, he expresses his joy about tying the knot with sweetheart Neema Sharma whom he first saw in the year 2002. “There’s an old Indian saying that ‘janam, vivah aur mrityu’  are the three most important stages in a person’s life. I’m entering the second stage and I’m really looking forward to spending my life with Neema,” gushes the groom. Ayaan is overjoyed about the guests who poured in for all the ceremonies because according to him it’s rare to see them all together at one place. “I’m getting to spend time with family and friends,” he adds.

Now that he’s hitched is he hunting for a girl for brother Amaan (also a sarod player)? “I think he’ll find his soulmate very soon. He was the one who wanted to settle down early in life while I was commitment phobic. He’ll get married whenever he’s ready for it,” he says.

While the sangeet ceremony was an intimate function with family and friends, the wedding and the reception in Mumbai were grander  with  a large number of guests. “There will be a musical programme on February 23 in Delhi and a reception will be held on February 24 there. Pandit Birju Maharaj was supposed to put up a show on February 23 but unfortunately there has been a tragedy in his family. So now two of my father’s students will be playing,”  he smiles.
