Arunoday Singh is no masala actor

Singh is ready with his fourth release Yeh Sali Zindagi where he gets to flex his muscles.

Arunoday Singh is no masala actor

With some acting experience in the US, sans any formal degree, Arunoday Singh headed to Bollywood to fulfil his dreams of becoming an actor. For someone who made his debut playing a terrorist on screen, Arunoday surely isn’t one who would stick to conventions. In his upcoming film, Arunoday plays the role of a gangster who is all muscle and no brain and acts like a lovelorn puppy in front of his wife.

“I don’t have any intention of playing a typical hero, in Bollywood’s run-of-the-mill films,” says the actor who has proved his mettle by being part of films like Mirch, Sikandar and now Yeh Sali Zindagi. “I am not a commercial fellow, instead I like to stick to off beat stuff,” says the actor.

However, by saying this, the actor does prove that he believes in the divide that exists in-between the so called main stream and parallel cinema. “I believe it exists but it doesn’t need to. I fail to understand why that happens. The Indian audience is ready for substantial films and intelligent films do pretty well here. So, it is not as if the audiences aren’t evolved here. In fact they are very sharp, I guess the industry just needs to figure out what connects with them and what doesn’t. Make good films instead of blaming the audience. Work on films with substantial subjects, instead of having a great time at foreign locations for four months and then making just entertaining films,” adds Arunoday.

His family is pretty amused with his choice of career and his sisters find him quite entertaining. “I am a funny guy and they are always entertained because of me,” Arunoday signs off.
