Archana Puran Singh quits 'Comedy Circus'

The new year has begun on a shocking note for the TV folks, as actor and judge Archana Puran Singh quit Comedy Circus.

Archana’s move surprised many as the actor has been a judge on the show consecultively ever since its first season in 2007 and is considered an integral part of the show. Confirming her quitting the show, Archana told After Hrs, “Yes, its been five years, but I had issues which I had tried to bring to the producers’ notice. But since they have been left unresolved I wish to move on.”

The actor decided to call it quits just before the beginning of the new season. When asked about the reason for her sudden exit, she replied, “The promos that are currently on air where I play a grand mum were actually shot when we were doing the last season. So, it’s not that I began shooting for the new season and now left the producers in a lurch. As it was a show that was very close to my heart I tried to turn a blind eye many a times. However things have gone from bad to worse and I didn’t want to be taken for granted.”

Prod her if payment was one of the reasons for her quitting the show and she adds, “Well, scripts are often inspired by real situations one faces in day to day life. Here too many acts on the show brought  the payment problem to light, in a humourous style, not once but many a times. That wasn’t just a comic punch that artists used, but they too tried to hint at the long pending issues! So do I need to say more!”

About her future plans Archana says, “I want to concentrate on other opportunities that I had been dodging for sometime now. Besides I just finished shooting for Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan. And on TV I have a reality show and a few other shows that I’m in talks for.”
