An ode to the King of Pop Michael Jackson

The sudden demise of pop idol Michael Jackson has left many of his fans grieving. One of them is singer Vinod Rathod who is planning a private album to pay homage to the King of Pop whom he always admired.

The album has been 'Maine Tujhe Dil Diya Kya Buraa Kiya' and is going to have seven tracks in it. “I have been an ardent admirer of Michael Jackson and when he passed away, it was hard to believe. I have been working on this album to pay tribute to the rockstar who influenced me in a big way. It is going to have musical influences which I have derived globally from different cultures. MJ is like God and this is just for him,” he says.

The album will release in the next few months. and Rathod will be seen in the music video too. On the film music front, Vinod is taking it easy. “From the very start of my career, I have never been one of those who will pile up work. I like doing selective work which gives me creative satisfaction. I have sung for Ram Gopal Verma’s film. A few others are in the pipeline too,” he says.

However, he has been completely out of sight for the past few years. The last people remember him was for Lage Raho Munnabhai. “I was never in a race and I will never be in one. Because it is not in my nature to compete, I am happy with the work I am doing in my own space. I don’t want to feel tired with too much work. I want to enjoy what I do, selective and interesting work like what Aamir Khan does with his films. I have been told by a lot of people that I have been invisible after Lage Raho Munnabhai. I am not in a hurry but I guess people might see me singing again for Munnabhai if Munnabhai Chale America happens,” he adds.
