An action-packed outing for Ajay Devgn

Actor Ajay Devgn’s completing two decades in Bollywood this year, and if there’s one thing that’s been a constant in his life since his debut then it’s his love for action. And the star who kick-started his career with an action flick (Phool Aur Kaante) 20 years ago feels that life’s come a full circle for him as this year also marks his return to the hardcore action genre after having successfully dabbled into comedy and some serious cinema the past few years.

But the actor points out that he’s never really been away from the genre completely. “I don’t think I can stay away from action for too long,” he said pointing to the action sequences he did in Golmaal 3 and Aakrosh. “But yes, it’s always exciting to do an out-and-out action film.”

And just like him, the actor feels that action too has come a long way. Having shot some very intense stunt sequences first in Singham and now in Tezz, the actor is enjoying the genre so much that he’s now planning to announce his own action thriller by the end of this year. “Yes, I’d love to direct an action flick and am planning to work on the script when I can squeeze out some time,” he’d said earlier. As for why an action flick, he’d added, “I think I understand the genre better. Besides, action has always been and will always be my first love.”

Having delivered far more hits than any other actor the last year, one would imagine Ajay to be under tremendous pressure of the number game this year around as well, but the actor surprises when he says that there’s no pressure at all. “I’ve never let myself succumb to the number game, so why should it be different this time around. I’m happy being in my own league and doing my films, my way. The rest can worry about number game, it doesn’t affect me,” said the star.

Having just returned from London after a gruelling shoot, he’s apparently already in talks to set working on his new script and sources insist that he’s very keen to get rolling by the end of this year. “But he’s super busy with back-to-back schedules, so even he’s trying to figure out how he can manage the time,” said an insider, adding that he’s extremely excited about it.
