Amrita Rao slams a non-vegetarian lifestyle

Actress Amrita Rao is the latest from tinsel town to speak out against consuming non-vegetarian food. Rao, known for her girl next door looks is a vegetarian and has now joined hands with People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to spread awareness on the same. And for those who thought that going veggie was boring, Amrita says it’s quite the opposite. “I call being vegetarian the Wow Rao diet,” she giggles. Why wow? “Because being vegetarian is the best thing I can do for myself, the animals and the environment,” she says adding, “pulses can get the pulse racing, while a corpse cuisine slows you down.” Talking from her personal experience she says, “Kick the meat habit and you’ll look and feel better than ever.”

The actress' friends say that Rao is always game to promote the vegetarianism and is armed with studies and researches that point out the benefits of going green. “She always gets into debates as to which lifestyle is a more healthy option with her friends. But Amrita wins hands down because she’s well-read on the subject. She’ll throw so many facts and figures at you that it becomes difficult to tilt the argument towards your side,” says a friend.

The actress has also tried to shed her homely image with an advertisement she did for PETA, in which she is seen wearing a pair of hot pants and a clingy tee. Says a source, “She’s looking sexy in the photo shoot but Amrita likes to strike a balance between looking hot and yet retaining innocence about her.
Looks like Rao’s achieved her goal alright.
