Amrita Rao can’t wait to get home!

The actor who’s back from a charity drive in New York is keen to join the festivities in the city

Amrita Rao can’t wait to get home!

Shooting for several schedules back-to-back, Amrita Rao’s running on a super-busy mode these days in Ooty. But when it comes to supporting a noble cause, the actor’s always ready to push the envelope a little more. So, when the actor was invited to be a part of an NGO’s initiative to raise funds, Amrita even squeezed in a four-day trip to New York to lend her support. While there, the actress helped the organisation spread awareness on the importance of good quality education and even helped collect funds over $1,000.

“When you do something noble and selfless, the experience you have is far beyond words. It was also my little bit towards the society. I think it is very fulfilling to see that your efforts will bring about a smile on someone else’s face. And I must admit that they were the most satisfying four days of my life,” says the actor, talking about her four-day stint there.

Just like the NGO,  that works towards the improvement of quality of education for children, Amrita too believes that education is one of the most important tools for empowerment. “I think education is vital for any country to progress. It was heartening to see that though they are NRIs, they are as much willing to do something for the kids’ education back home,” she adds.

Her four-day charity drive in New York may have been over, but the actor’s not back home in Mumbai yet, as from NYC, she flew down straight back to Ooty, where she’s been shooting for her film Love U… Mr Kalakaar!, with now good friend Tusshar Kapoor. “It’s so much fun shooting with him that I almost don’t miss Mumbai,” she laughs. “But right now, I can’t wait to get back home and be a part of the Ganesh festivities.” Talking about her connection to Him, she adds, “For me Lord Ganesh has always been this cute friend who I rely on 24X7! So I’m really excited about celebrating the Ganesh Chaturthi.”
