Amitabh Bachchan is the original Don of film industry: Shah Rukh Khan

It was quite a bit of a controversy when actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Patna trip was suddenly cancelled because of security concerns. But now that SRK has finally made it to the city after pushing back the dates of the Dubai premiere of his new film, the actor praised actor and the ‘original’ onscreen Don, Amitabh Bachchan, all the way when he was there. Bachchan Senior is still arguably the most popular star in Patna.

Shah Rukh and co-star Priyanka Chopra landed there for a quick visit when his fans in Patna vented their anger at the star’s visit being cancelled.

“I am an absolute fan of Amitabh Bachchan and it is true that I still regard him as the original Don of the film industry. My film, Don is fully inspired by him and I think that he is the real Don,” he said.

Flanked by Priyanka, SRK thanked his fans for loving him in the city. Earlier trouble broke out a few days back when the actor couldn’t land in the city and his fans clashed with the police. At least 10 policeman and 13 fans were injured in the clash that took place on December 13. A blame, counter-blame ensued between the district administration and the police.

However, everything was forgotten when Shah Rukh welcomed his fans. “I am thankful to God that everybody here has shown me enough love. I am sorry that I couldn’t come here earlier. I would love to come here again,” added Shah Rukh. This was Shah Rukh’s maiden visit to the city and a record number of visitors had turned up to see him.
