All’s well between Ekta and me: Tusshar Kapoor

It’s been barely a week since his last release, but actor Tusshar Kapoor’s already plunged into the shooting of his upcoming film, alongwith working on the promotions of yet another one. Talking about the success of his film

The Dirty Picture co-starring Vidya Balan — alongwith Naseeruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi — Tusshar admits that he is overwhelmed with the response the film’s garnering, but says he’s not surprised. “Fridays are fickle dates for films. You can never predict the outcome in terms of the film’s business no matter how confident you are of the product. The final verdict is never in the hands of either the filmmaker or the actor, but this time we all knew we had a winner,” he says, adding that it’s not because of the highly sexual content in the film that gave them the confidence that it would work at the BO, but the fact that everyone was so passionate about the film right from the word ‘go’!

Tusshar’s even unperturbed about the length of his role, considering he plays one of the three male leads on screen, Tusshar says, “I have always believed that the length of the role never matters, it’s only the performance and this film proves that. I am just glad that people have enjoyed my performance, no matter what the length.” But didn’t he want a bigger role since it was his own production house? “The film may have come out of our stable, but Milan would’ve cast me even if it wasn’t our production. It was his faith in me that I agreed to do a role that did not have the maximum screen time,” explains Tusshar.

There were also rumours of an apparent fall-out between him and sister filmmaker Ekta. Tusshar agrees that there indeed was a phase when a few people tried to create misunderstanding between them, ‘but both Ekta and I realised what was happening well on time’. “Whenever there has been a problem like that, all we needed to do was talk it out and all issues would be sorted.

Thankfully, it never came to a point where it turned ugly. But all the people who tried to create the misunderstandings are no more a part of our lives,” says Tusshar, adding that it’s all history now. What he’s excited about right now also is his comedy with Riteish Deshmukh, as well as Samir Karnik’s Chaar Din Ki Chandni.

“Both are roles that I’ve enjoyed doing immensely. So, it’s been an exciting year and the coming year’s looking promising too,” he adds.
