All my co-stars are my friends: Neil Nitin Mukesh

Like every other Indian cricket fanatic, actor Neil Nitin Mukesh is feverishly cheering for the Indian cricket team at the ongoing Cricket World Cup.

The actor, who is a huge fan of the sport, says he is looking forward to India winning the World Cup. Talking about his love for the sport, he says, “I love cricket. In fact, I am like just any other Indian. We are a cricket crazy country.” He goes on to talk about his favourite cricketer and it’s no surprise that Neil is a big Sachin Tendulkar fan.

“I am a big fan of Sachin’s game. When he is playing, I am glued to the screen, praying and hoping that he scores a century. Virat Kohli too is a close friend and I really hope the team gets the cup home. In fact, if I am I town, I will be going to Wankhede stadium to watch the finals,” he gushes.

Cricket aside, the actor is also super-excited about his next film, Players directed by Abbas-Mustan. Neil, who is currently shooting for the film, has Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan as co-stars. Talking about them, he says, “Abhi is like my brother and Sonam is a dear friend. In fact, I am friendly with most of the crew members. I don’t know about others but I have a lot of friends in the industry — all my co-stars are my friends. Deepika (Padukone), Sonam, John (Abraham), Bipasha (Basu), Priyanka (Chopra), Asin and Abhishek are all very good friends. It’s true that equations change every Friday but there are people who remain friends for life and I guess I make friends easily.”

His last outing in Saat Khoon Maaf got him rave reviews but Neil says that playing the role wasn’t easy.

“My role was that of an army officer and I had adapt to a certain body language and style for it. Plus it took me almost three hours to get in and out of the cast for the prosthetic leg. But I am glad the efforts have paid off. I am happy and contented,” he smiles.
