Akshay Kumar is in demand!

Riding high on his two back-to-back superhits, actor Akshay Kumar seems to be much in demand when it comes to brand endorsements as well. With several endorsement deals under his belt, insiders reveal that the actor is currently being pursued by two more leading brands and one of them is even offering the actor a hiked price to switch from his current brand to theirs.

According to trade, Akshay’s stakes in the endorsement deals have shot up considerably since his Rs 100- crore successes — Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2 before that. “Akshay has always been in demand when it comes to brand endorsements, and the hits have now only consolidated his position further in the ad world. The fact that he is rather choosy has helped maintain that exclusivity factor,” says trade analyst Komal Nahta. A source from the brand market reveals that Akshay is one of the safest bets in the industry.

“More than anything, he is loyal to the brand. For instance, he is endorsing this car brand, and he actually is seen travelling in only that car,” points out the insider.

Despite the offers pouring in, a source close to the actor reveals that he is being extremely choosy when it comes to lending his name to them. When asked about it, Akshay agrees that he is as choosy in endorsing brands as he is in selecting his films. “When you lend your face or name to a brand, your fans do get influenced and I don’t want to send out a wrong signal by endorsing something I don’t believe in myself. There were times when I had done that at the start of my career for financial reasons, but thankfully today I am in a position when I can turn down brands that I am not convinced of,” said Akshay. The actor, who is currently busy with the promotions of Joker and the post production work of his film Oh My God starring Paresh Rawal is also juggling his other film Khiladi 786 with that.

Talking about OMG, the actor adds, “The film is very special and close to my heart, and not just because I’m a producer. I do believe that the film will connect with everyone across ages.”
