Akshay Kumar and mom-in-law Dimple Kapadia shoot together

The first day of shooting for Akshay Kumar and Dimple Kapadia was an emotional one. Akshay Kumar, for the first time, is sharing screen space with his real life mother-in-law in Nikhil Advani’s next film, Patiala House.

“Akshay was looking a little tense before the shot because he wanted it to be perfect and okayed in a single take. The two
(Akshay and Dimple) even discussed the scene over and over again with Nikhil before they went for their final take before the camera. Of course, the shot was okayed in a single take,” says a unit member.

Akki shares a very warm relationship with Dimple who treats him more like a son than a son-in-law. She is always seen mothering Akki in front of the whole unit. Interestingly, Akki gets to play Dimple’s son in the film.

After the shot was over, the unit gathered around to clap for the duo. Unfortunately, Twinkle was not present on the sets. “Akshay and Dimple gave their first shot on the very first day of the shooting schedule.

After the first scene was shot, everybody got together to clap for the on-screen mother-son duo and Akki got very emotional about sharing screen space with Dimple who he treats as his own mother. In fact the mother-son chemistry is amazing when you see them on screen according to people on the sets,” the source added.

The director also concedes that there couldn’t be a better mother-son combo for this film and it was not hard to convince them to play the roles.

Says director Nikhil Advani, “I had seen Akshay and Dimpleji off the screen. They share a great camaraderie and bond so well as mother and son-in-law. The idea of casting them originated from there and I don’t think I could have got a better mother for Akshay.”
