Devgn and the filmmaker had parted ways but seem to be bonding again, courtesy Jha’s recent troubles.

Ajay Devgn tries to bail Prakash Jha out

With the publicity of his controversial film gone wrong and the film losing Rs35 crore (approximately) over the long weekend (in Mumbai circles), filmmaker Prakash Jha has apparently gone back to all his old friends who are trying their best to bail him out of the situation. The name topping the list is apparently actor Ajay Devgn’s, with whom Prakash had a fallout during the making of the same film.

“Ajay Devgn was supposed to do to the film and he walked out of the project at the last moment because there were certain misunderstandings between the two. It was then that Saif Ali Khan stepped into Ajay’s shoes and the development was promptly declared by Amitabh Bachchan on his blog. Prakash and Ajay didn’t speak after that until his film started generating all the wrong news,” says a unit member.

The director, in the course of contacting all his old friends, touched base with Ajay looking for advice and help to sort out the problems his film ran into. Ajay too started taking interest in Prakash’s crisis.

“Ajay asked his assistants to make a few phone calls and assured Prakash that he would pull out all stops to ensure whatever he could do for the director,” the source adds. So what did Ajay exactly do? Apparently, he called up his contacts to ensure that the film gets a smooth sail wherever possible. “It is mainly because of Ajay’s phone calls that the film got a lot of support from the distributors. He also made a few calls to his friends in the political circles in Bihar and Punjab who ensured that they would do the best they could. Prakash was seen repeatedly thanking Ajay for his help. There were some people in Ajay’s camp frowning because Ajay and Prakash’s fight dates back to Rajneeti days when everybody felt that Ajay got a raw deal. Ajay however didn’t mind helping at all,” the source adds.
