It’s nothing less than a dream come true for singer Amit Kumar, who got to reprise his father, legendary singer Kishore Kumar’s iconic Himmatwala number for Sajid Khan’s film. The song Naino Mein Sapna made famous as the matka number by Jeetendra and Sridevi way back in the ’80s hit  has been recreated by lead pair Ajay Devgn and Tammanah of Sajid’s remake.
Talking about roping in Amit for the song, Sajid says, “Re-recording Naino Mein Sapna for me was like being a part of history. Never before has a son sung the same song in the same style which was rendered by his father 30 years ago. When Amit started singing Kishoreda’s lines, it was almost like Kishoreda had come alive to sing the song for us. There’s only one Kishore Kumar and there will only be one Amit Kumar.” Choreographed by filmmaker Farah Khan, the music of the song has been recreated by music directors Sajid Wajid, and Shreya Ghoshal has sung for Tammanah. An insider reveals that the makers plan to launch the song online today.
About making Ajay dance, Farah says that the actor surprised her. “We have made Ajay do everything from the original song, except get him to dress like Jeetuji or get him into his trademark white shoes,” says Farah, who recreated the sets very much like in the original song. “It’s impossible to capture the magic of the original, but it’s presenting it to the new generations, so lets not compare,” she adds.  “But it will be interesting to see Ajay’s dancing avatar. We have made him put forth his best dancing foot. I feel that Ajay’s fans especially would love seeing him in this dancing style,” shares Farah.
The film that’s high on the retro flavour had it’s first look launched at a single screen theatre, with a backdrop of the eighties. And true to the decade, the film will also see Sonakshi Sinha do an item number Thank God it’s Friday in which she is dressed to look like the Bollywood sirens of the ’80s.
