Aishwarya and I are not a couple package: Abhishek Bachchan

After a rather thanda 2010, actor Abhishek Bachchan is now looking forward to bouncing back with a vengeance this year.

Armed with almost six films under his belt, what’s kept the Bachchan junior going despite the flops is the fact that the filmmakers still have faith in his acting prowess. “No one can predict the film’s outcome. As actors all that we can ensure is putting in our best, and I am glad that film-makers here consider that and look beyond the BO results,” says the actor, who’s currently shooting for Players in New Zealand.

The star is also expecting to bring in his birthday there, even though Abhishek reveals that he isn’t very high on birthdays. “Working in the day and spending the evening with my loved ones is what I’d call a perfect way to celebrate my birthday,” he says, adding that he knows that his family and wife Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan will make sure that it’s extra special.

Incidentally, though the actor has six films in hand, none of them star Ash. He also clarifies that contrary to speculation, Rajkumar Santoshi’s romcom Ladies and Gentlemen will not see the couple pair up on screen. “C’mon now, Ash and I are not a couple package, ya,” he says wryly. “Professionally, we are two independent actors. Besides, casting us is the director’s call. We don’t play any role in getting each other cast,” he says.

This year’s started on a busy note for Abhishek with films that mark his foray back into the mainstream commercial ‘hero’ genre. “Both Raavan and Kheley Hum Jee Jaan Sey may not have worked at the BO, but I am very proud to have done them. They were not run-of-the mill roles. But as an actor I’d still want to take that risk over and over again, no matter what the outcome,” he ends.
