Aftab Shivdasani feels that it’s always better to make a fool of himself. He says it’s the easiest way to make the audience do what they love to do best — have a hearty laugh in the theatre.

“If you can do that well you can immediately captivate your audience. The question is how convincingly you can do that and therein lies the key to the success of the role,” says Aftab, while talking about his role in the upcoming film Big Film’s Daddy Cool.

“I play a guy whose fiancé’s uncle has expired. I land up at the funeral to make a complete fool of myself. All through the movie I am actually not in my senses. I prefer these kind of roles because it doesn’t need too much of an intensity and the audience can just sit back and laugh,” he explains.

So is it true that he is slowly deviating from his original vocation towards being a producer? “Rubbish! I am still very much into acting. People haven’t seen much of me because I haven’t got a good enough role to act in. But I have always maintained that acting is the best thing that I do and it is the only thing that I want to do right now. I do film production on the side and I will continue to do that sparingly.”

So has he been able to zoom in on a project to produce? “Nope. To tell you the truth, I haven’t been able to get a good script that I would want to produce,” he says.

Aftab is also looking forward to his next release Acid Factory which also has an ensemble star cast like Daddy Cool. “That is another movie I am looking forward too. The good part of being a part of an ensemble cast is that you never feel the pressure.

You know that so many people have put in efforts and it’s bound to succeed. Even if it doesn’t, you know it was a team effort. The pressure is much more on a solo hero project,” he ends.
