Adele reclaims top spot on UK album, single charts

British singer-songwriter Adele has reclaimed her dominance of both the country's single and album charts, the compiler of the top 40 lists said on Sunday.

The Grammy-winning singer's second album 21 has now been number one for nine consecutive weeks.                                            Adele's ballad Someone Like You returned to the top after US singer-songwriter Nicole Scherzinger, performing as a solo artist, broke its four-week winning streak last week.

The lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls pop group came in second with her single Don't Hold Your Breath, said the Official Charts Company which compiles the weekly rundown.

Adele's debut album 19, first released in 2008, stayed in the second position in the album chart, while US rock band The Strokes entered the top 40 at number three with its album Angles.
