After scoring well at the box office and winning rave reviews, Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots has taken home the major trophies in the technical category of the IIFA awards.
The film by Rajkumar Hirani won in eight out of 14 categories of the technical awards announced here, beating off competition from other contenders like Paa and Love Aaj Kal.
3 Idiots managed to hold its position with Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra taking the award for best screenplay.
CK Muraleedharan, ISC, won the best cinematography award followed by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi for best dialogue.
Sanjay Wandrekar, Atul Raninga and Shantanu Moitra won the award for best background score and Hirani for best editing.
To add to the feathers in its cap, the movie also won all three of the awards in the Sound category.
Meanwhile Sujoy Ghosh's Aladin and the Saif Ali Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Love Aaj Kal took home two awards each.
The popular dance moves from Love Aaj Kal won Bosco Caesar the best choreography while the best costume designing trophy went to Anahita Shroff and Dolly Ahluwalia for the same film.
Sabu Cyril got the award for best art direction and Charles Darby won best special effects for Aladin.
Sham Kaushal was favoured with the best action award for Kaminey and undoubtedly deserving was the best makeup award to international make-up artists Christien Tinsley & Dominie Till for Paa.
The awards will be presented to the winners at the eleventh IIFA Awards that will be held on June 5 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, this year.
