A homosexual role? Not for me, says Bobby Deol

The actor loves to experiment with roles, but feels that this one won’t work for him.

A homosexual role? Not for me, says Bobby Deol

Actor Bobby Deol is ready with his upcoming release with dad Dharmendra and older brother Sunny.

Maha-excited about this one, Bobby feels that unlike the family drama Apne — their last film together — in which they made the audiences cry, this time around they are set to make audiences laugh with Yamla Pagla Deewana.

“I feel it’s much difficult to get the right script and story for a comedy, as no matter how good an actor is, if the script isn’t up to the mark, no one can help the film.

"That is why we took almost a year-and-a-half on the film. It seems to have turned out well. But audiences will tell us more once the film releases.”

Bobby, who is also busy shooting for Players, a remake of The Italian Job, with his favourite directors Abbas and Mustan, adds, “We have finished the first schedule of the film and the next will start in January. I am working with my favourite director duo and it’s always fun working with them.”

Also, buddy Abhishek Bachchan will be working with him again after Dostana. “I knew Abhishek even before we entered Bollywood so it’s always great working with friends. And I make friends on all my films.”

Bobby, however, says he will not be open to playing a homosexual character if offered such a role. “I don’t see myself playing a gay role," he says. "My physique and demeanour is very masculine and I am sure audiences will faint at that very thought. Though I love to experiment, this is something I can’t carry off.”

So is Bobby the prankster on the sets or otherwise? “Oh, I am definitely not the prankster, but I do fall for the pranks. This is the truth unfortunately. But I’m brushing up on my skills, so that I can play a prank someday on the sets and hopefully not get trapped in my own prank,” he laughs.

And does he intend to get behind the camera anytime soon, like elder brother Sunny? “I don’t think I want to be a director as I hate to be the boss and take control of things," he says. "But we are producers already right from Ghayal, so that will happen even in the future. All I know is direction is not for me, at least for now.”
