A film on Rekha’s life?

After the announcement of director Madhur Bhandarkar’s unofficial biopic on Hollywood legend Marylin Monroe, here comes another biopic. Rumour mills are abuzz with news that a film is being made on the life of Bollywood diva Rekha.

Rekha, a legend in her own right, has always been surrounded by mystery. Be it her love life during her film career or her closely guarded personal space, her life has always given fodder for gossip mongers. Kapil Sharma, brother of director Anil Sharma, has scripted a film which resembles her life.

When contacted, Kapil said, “I don’t talk about similarities with Rekha or any other Bollywood personalities. I don’t know her personally, so it could be any star. Yes, it is a film which has Bollywood as the backdrop and one of its protagonists is an actress who is past her prime. She is single and mysterious. When you are writing a film which has characters from the industry, little nuances might rub off.”
