A brush with beauty

While he holds a soft-corner for his first prominent client, model-actor Lisa Ray, make-up artist Subhash Shinde confesses that Aishwarya Rai would be the ultimate muse.

"I first worked with her in Smita Thackeray's 'Hum Do Hamara Ek'. Later I did her make-up for a Cine Blitz shoot. She has fantastic skin and a great jaw line. I gave her a smoky-eyed effect and bright, red lipstick. She was impressed. She is very caring towards all her staff and that makes her special."

Manisha Koirala
"I did her make-up for a lifestyle feature for a foreign magazine and also for the film 'Mumbai Express'. Her skin has a natural glow and hence she prefers soft make-up. She hates spending long hours on doing her make-up and prefers being ready in10 minutes. Once I got late in reaching her. So, to make up for the lost time, I managed to do her face within seven minutes!  Though she has small eyes, they look mysterious with make-up. She likes her cheekbones to be emphasised."

"I have done her make-up for the film 'Chingari'. Because she is playing a prostitute, we had to give her dark make-up with an oil-base. Her features are very sharp and she is a stickler for perfection. This keeps us on our toes as well. She is very particular about the shape of her eye-liner, her eyes being her strongest feature. Glossy pink is her favourite lipstick shade. She is extremely concerned about the well-being of her staff."

"She has a natural classic face-cut, which gives her an old-world charm. Personally she is even younger looking. She is absolutely a no-fuss person. I did her make-up for a foreign magazine."

"She is a typical Indian beauty. She likes her make-up to have sharp cuts, highlighting her cheek bones. Pouting lips and eyes heavy with kaajal are typical of her style. The best thing about her is the respect that she shows to all."
