Leaked e-mails from the Sony hack in 2014 revealed the disparity in pay and treatment between actors and actresses. In her article written for actor-director Lena Dunham's 'Lenny Letter' newsletter, Lawrence wrote, "I would be lying if I didn't say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight. I didn't want to seem 'difficult' or 'spoiled'... There is a tremendous disparity in remuneration between male and female actors. The remuneration difference is insane as the disparity is big.
