No one has the liberty to talk about Aishwarya like that: Abhishek Bachchan

The doting husband and actor talks about the scrutiny over wife Aishwarya-Rai-Bachchan’s public appearances and also gets candid about daughter Aaradhya.

No one has the liberty to talk about Aishwarya like that: Abhishek Bachchan

This year’s been a rather busy one for actor and new dad, Abhishek Bachchan, both professionally and personally. But ask the actor about it and he says there are no complaints. “Like any new father will tell you, it’s definitely not easy to leave your child behind and step out for work. But that’s my job and I love it as well. And for me, my unit’s like family too, so it’s just like being in the same house but changing rooms, so yes the schedule’s super-packed, but there’s no stress or pressure,” admits Abhishek, who has an interesting mix of films under his belt. And as we settle down for a tete-a-tete with the star, he talks about his films, daughter Aaradhya and also about the intense scrutiny surrounding Aishwarya’s recent appearances

Recently was Father’s Day, your first one as a dad…
I have never believed in celebrating any such days ever, so I didn’t even realise it was Father’s Day.

But soon Aaradhya will be making daddy’s day cards for you…
That I will really look forward to (smiles).

Tell us about her…
Oh, she’s great fun. She’s such a blessing, we can’t thank God enough for her. She’s really a sweet child.

And are you a hands-on dad?
As much as I can be yes, but Aishwarya’s a superb mom. It’s a delight to see them both together.

There’s been immense scrutiny about Aishwarya’s recent appearances…

I just think it’s extremely insensitive and no one has the liberty to speak about her like the way they sometimes do. Yes, she’s a public figure, but people forget she’s also a woman and now a mother and there’s a line that’s not to be crossed. I don’t talk that way about any woman ever and it’s obviously not graceful for anyone to talk about her like that either. But may be that’s
expecting too much, so to be honest, we kind of not let it affect us at all. Like Aishwarya always says, ‘negativity is like one drop in a huge ocean of positivity’ and we’d rather be happy about the love and blessings we get.

On the work front, you’ve been busy non-stop…
Yes, now there’s Bol Bachchan and then I begin work on Dhoom 3 and then the rest follow.

Is Bol Bachchan all the more special for you, because of the obvious name connection?
Well, all films I do are special for me. In this one my character is also named Abhishek Bachchan, so yes, it was kind of fun doing it. Besides, the entire bunch is a fun gang, so it was exciting for sure and we (Ajay Devgn, Asin, Prachi Desai, Rohit Shetty) had a crazy time on sets.

Bol Bachchan has been adapted from Golmaal. Several of your father’s (actor Amitabh Bachchan) films are being remade too, so are there any of his film’s remakes that you would want to do?
I haven’t really thought about doing one. So, don’t know. Like I’ve said nothing matters except the script that I’m offered so if there’s any film remake or not, that excites me, I would love to consider it.

What about your role as a producer?
I am busy with acting, so that’s taken a backseat for now.
