Fashion is all about fit and comfort: Ramya

Actress Ramya believes that fashion is all about fit and comfort. If the two aspects are missing, fashion would lack confidence.

What is your idea of style?
For me, fit is everything. I believe that you should wear the dress and the dress shouldn’t wear you. No matter what your body type is, as long as your clothes fit your well, you shall remain stylish. The other big factor is how comfortable you feel when you wear a particular outfit. Your confidence shows when you’re at ease with what you’re wearing and if you’re not comfortable, it will always make you feel odd.

What clothes define your comfort factor?
Pyjamas! I think they are the most comfortable things to wear. If it were accepted, I’d have worn pyjamas to everywhere. Apart from those, I find that for my body type, dresses suit me best. I love wearing long, feminine dresses. I love wearing saris as well, I’m very comfortable in them, ironically.

What’s your favourite shopping destination?
I love the stuff we find in the markets of Istanbul. It is really mind-blowing. I also love to shop at New York.

Who are your favourite designers?
Speaking internationally, I love wearing clothes made by Chanel and Dior. I like shoes by Louis Vuitton and bags by Hermes. I dislike Louis Vuitton bags because in countries like Philippines, even maids seem to carry fake LVs. And that’s why, I keep my LV bags in my closet.

Any Indian designers you fancy?
I really love the dresses made by Gauri and Nainika. Their clothes completely match with my personal sense of style.

You’ve always ensured that your wardrobe for films is in sync with the trends. How do you keep up with all the fashion changes?
Initially, I used to have the time to flip through magazines and television channels to check out what’s in vogue. Today, I do that when I’m conversing with friends, who tell me what’s new and whom to check out.

Do you have a style icon?
Currently, I’m completely besotted by the personal style sense of Carlotta Barosso, who’s the daughter of the European Commission President. She coincidentally happens to be dating Raphael’s (Ramya’s beau) brother. She’s got a body and sense of style to die for.
