One of the few Indian bands to have crossed the two decades milestone, Euphoria will be performing in the city as part of One World Many Musics. Led by singer, songwriter and musician Dr Palash Sen, the band has performed over 1,700 shows. The lead singer tells After Hrs about the plan ahead for their musical journey.

You’re performing at NCPA as part of One World Many Musics event. What set have you planned for the show?

I have curated a special set consisting of handpicked songs from our catalogue that spans over two decades. Apart from the staples like Maaeri, Dhoom, Gully and so on, we will play songs from our new album scheduled for release later this year and songs from our previous albums that we have never played live. You can easily call this a once in a lifetime Euphoria concert.

Though your line-up has changed many times, Euphoria is alive and rocking even after 20 years. What’s the secret?

The secret is the love that people have showered on us. Whenever there was a line-up change, they stood rock solid by our side and never gave up. Many bands have come and gone over the years but Euphoria has carried on. In fact, there have been moments when I lost faith, too. But it’s these people who have inspired me to keep this going.

In recent times, you have started being more visible on the digital platform. Is that a deliberate attempt to stay relevant?

I realised that the audience is too used to consuming a lot of content nowadays, thanks to the multiple apps and platforms. Hence, we started this property called Euphoric Wednesdays where we present one song every Wednesday. We have also released two short films based on the first two singles of our upcoming album, which were directed by me. More than the relevance, we now have the freedom to put out content without any outside interference. And we are going to make the most of it! Our fans are loving it. We are more than happy to keep doing this to keep them entertained.

What’s the plan ahead with albums and singles?

With the new album, we wanted to put out short films with our songs to present a more elaborate storytelling method. We have already released two films and two songs, Jiya Jaye, based on the song Jiya Jaye Na and Iktarfa based on the song Iktarfa, and people have loved it. Planning a few more films and music videos. We’ll keep doing Euphoric Wednesdays and keep our audience engaged with diverse and euphoric content. Aage Jaane Ram Kya Hoga!

Euphoria will perform at NCPA on October 6 at 7 pm.
