Priyanka Chopra doesn’t step into the gym, believes every day is a cheat day and still comes out looking like that. The actress spoke about her fitness and beauty regime in Vogue India’s April 2017 issue. Excerpts from the interview.

On her earliest make-up memory

I was about three years old and obsessed with my mom’s lipstick — I’d stick my finger into her lipsticks and then smudge it all over my mouth. I also used to wear her bindis but always off centre.

On her craziest beauty experiment

It was unplanned. I went to my regular salon to get a pedicure and walked out with an asymmetrical bob. I had taken an impromptu decision to cut my hair and, before I could chicken out, I asked my hairstylist to get started. Halfway through, though, when I saw how short my hair was on one side, I ran scared and didn’t cut the other half. I landed up with that asymmetrical bob, which I eventually thought looked quite cool. I had to correct it a few days later, but is was super fun while it lasted.

On her beauty inspirations

Right now, it’s Meryl Streep! She portrays an inner beauty and strength that are rare to find today. My eternal beauty icons are Gayatri Devi, Audrey Hepburn, Rekha and Madhuri Dixit — they are all graceful, ageless, beautiful women.

On why every day is cheat day

To be fair, I can’t really say I have a diet. I pretty much eat what I feel like. Occasionally, I’ll try to be healthy and eat right for a couple of days, but that’s how long it lasts. I’m blessed with an amazing metabolism, so I take it for granted most of the time. The only thing I do religiously is drink lots of water and try to squeeze in coconut water and green juices. Every day is a cheat day for me. In my case, it should be called a health day, so at least for that one day I can try and eat right.

On not being a fitness freak

Honestly, I work out only when I need to. My body responds very quickly to exercise, so I don’t need too long to tone up and get into shape. But I try to be active in everyday life — I take the stairs instead of the elevators or walk instead of driving. I want to hit the gym but I work 15-hour days and I’m exhausted by the end of it. But that’s my resolution for 2017 — try Pilates and get to the gym. Ask me again at the end of the month to see how well I’ve fared.
