Welcome to our live coverage of the Oscars 2015! Hollywood's awards season culminated today with the Academy Awards held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. Birdman swept the 2015 Oscars winning top honours including Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography. Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel tied with four wins each. The Grand Budapest Hotel wins came mostly in the technical categories winning Best Make-Up, Best Production Design, Best Costume and Best Original Score. They were closely followed by Whiplash with bagged three award with expected wins in Best supporting actor for JK Simmons, Best sound mixing and Best editing.
As favourites throughout the awards season Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore scooped Best actor and actress respectively. Boyhood's solitary win came from Patricia Arquette's assured win in the best supporting actress category. Boyhood, Richard Linklater's coming-of-age tale about childhood, which took 12 years to complete was expected to have a tough battle with Birdman in the Best Film category.
After snubs in the Best Director and Best Actor category, Selma won Best Original Song to a standing ovation. American Sniper managed to convert only one of its six nomination with win for Best sound editing.
Alejandro G. Iñárritu's satire Birdman and Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel had lead the nominations this year with nine nods each.

Eddie Redmayne takes it home! Redmayne's turn as Stephen Hawking has been favourite to win with several wins already, and yet what an upset at the same time. Read our review of the best actor nominees this year.
This is race that everybody has been wary of predicting. The category has been a two horse race between the up and coming Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) and veteran Michael Keaton (Birdman). But American Sniper's Bradley Cooper is the surprise underdog in this race who could quietly to sneak up and cause an upset.
And he does. Iñárritu is coming fresh of wins at Director's Guild, Producer's Guild and the Screen Actor's Guild. Birdman waited to win the big ones.
Iñárritu thanks his close friend and cinematographer Lubezki who was earlier up on stage for best cinematography.
Ben Affleck is here to present for Best Director. Alejandro González Iñárritu is tipped to win this one.
The Imitation Game gets its first win of the night. "Thank you so much to the Academy and thank you to Oprah!" Graham Moore's heartwarming speech reaches out to all those who feel they don't fit in.

Eddie Murphys is here to present for Best Original Screenplay. The Grand Budapest Hotel won the Writers Guild Award for this one.
And Desplat it is! Fourth win for The Grand Budapest Hotel. The film seems to edging closer towards having the most wins this year.

Lady Gaga pays tribute to Julie Andrews with a stirring performance of songs from Sound of Music.
John Legend and Common win for "Glory" from Selma. "When people are marching to our song, we want to say we are with you, we see you and march one"— a moving speech from the winners.
Idina Menzel and John Travolta. Naturally there will be a gag on Travolta's faux pas from last year. Travolta veering into creepy territoy here.
Well, if this isn't ironic. A standing ovation for the biggest snub this year, Selma.
Octavia Spencer has taken her eyes of Harris' Oscar predictions to introduce John Legend and Common for their performance of "Glory" from Selma. The song has been nominated for Best Original Song.

With this win Whiplash and The Grand Budapest Hotel are leading with three wins each. One win each for Birdman and Boyhood. The last two are gearing up for the big awards!

Emmanuel Lubezki wins Best Cinematography for second year in a row for his work in Birdman. The seamless camerwork in the film has been an integral part of Iñárritu's storytelling in Birdman. Lubezki won last year for his work Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity.
