What is your reaction to the sting operation?

Really shocked to see the videos. I don’t know what to comment now. Tomorrow (Sunday), I will see what they have put.

You’ve said that you were invited by the said publication for an audition for a role in a movie “for public entertainment only”...

Yes, they hired us for that purpose only. They introduced themselves as financial advisers. This is happening for the last two years. I have no clue why they have been doing all this.

Did you know they were shooting?

I never knew they were shooting.

But were you ever a part of the film industry before?

They said they wanted to make a movie. Whatever dialogue was there, we were discussing. I would like to see what is there tomorrow.

Did you contact your lawyer?

I have contacted my lawyer. I will be meeting him on Monday morning. I can’t take a call now. I need to take action against them. Whatever they have posted is absolutely false.

How did you go to Sri Lanka?

They paid for my accommodation, flight fare, they paid me money as well. They called me to Sri Lanka, I never went on my own. They only gave me the money, otherwise why will I go to Sri Lanka? They wanted to meet some players. I used to play cricket in England, had a couple of friends. So that way I got connected with them.

Do you remember the man in the video who was talking to you?

Yes, I know. He came and said we have funds and are financial advisers. We have lots of funds to invest in movies and organising cricket tournaments. Or, if I could help them arrange matches and make them play. From that I would take whatever commission I can get. On hearing this, I got in touch with them.

Who approached whom?

He came first. I met him a couple of times.

How disturbing has it been for you?

Very disturbing. I haven’t had food since morning. I come from a very humble family. I don’t want to put my family into problems.
