Is it 'Directionless' for Zayn Malik?

As millions of heart-broken fans simmered over 22-year old heart-throb Zayn Malik announcing his decision to spilt from his One Direction band-mates, one can't help but ponder about the permanence of things.

What started out as regular boy bonhomie during that epochal 2010 X-Factor season, progressed into mass hysteria, as the newly formed boy-band took the world by storm, and sang their way into hearts of fans.

Not since the heady days of the Backstreet Boys (the original boy-band!), had the world  witnessed such passion and craziness, as Niall Horan,  Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik smashed records and etched their names in music history.

Brit Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Europe Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards...you name it and they lapped it all.

Chartbusting singles like  'What Makes You Beautiful', 'Live While We're Young', 'Story of My Life' and 'Steal My Girl', were churned regularly, which propelled them to the pinnacle of music glory.

So why in the world did Zayn make this sudden decision?

Now music history is no stranger to 'boy-band bromances' ending in a jiffy and Zayn may have been caught up in a web of ego and personal issues which have haunted him till date.

Throw the girl-friend angle in and his numerous on-off link ups may also have been reason enough for the dasher to throw in the towel so early.

While Zayn has publicly stated about wanting to be a 'normal 22-year old guy', the scenario does not look rosy for either him or his 'ex band-mates', at least as for now.

Of course, trying for a solo career would be a big gamble given the current scenario. 

The best that Zayn can do is to stay calm and re-join the band, post recession of his personal turmoil, which may set million hearts soaring once more.

One Direction minus Zayn will always be shorn of the magic that they evoked during the old days of yore, which only gives him enough incentive to try and fit into the scheme of things post this bad phase.

And if he does..then get ready for another one of those One Direction hits.
