Inner Truth: Nepal disaster is a reminder of how fragile human life is

The devastating earthquake which rocked Nepal has left many people dead and thousands gravely injured. Earthquakes and other natural calamities are just a reminder of how fragile human life is and how our dreams and hopes can be washed away any minute. Within seconds, buildings can come crumbling down. Man toils and sweats to create huge buildings and towers but they cannot withstand the power of nature’s fury. It takes years and years for humans to build a building but it does not take Nature even a second to send them crashing down by means of earthquakes or other natural calamities.

Man often thinks that he is very great. Sometimes there is no end to man’s ego. He thinks that he owns the world. Even the top scientists and seismologists become powerless in the face of such calamities. Such tragedies often show us our position in the world. We are just mere mortals and we have no control over so many things. Life is very brief and it can be cut short any minute. Just like this Himalayan disaster, hundreds of other natural calamities have left authorities red-faced. Often they are blamed for not having predicted such oncoming disasters. We humans are quite helpless many times as we can never be hundred per cent sure about what’s going to happen next even though we do have loads of data and charts to read. Sometimes plans can go awry and Nature can teach us very valuable lessons.
Earthquakes, tsunamis and other natural tragedies only reaffirm our faith in a Supreme Power and show us that our position and place in this world is very limited. Destiny can change any minute. We must always learn to show gratitude to one and all and live peacefully with everybody. We never know what is going to happen and when our time on this Earth is going to be over. Even if we do have backup plans in life they cannot beat the forces of destiny, nature and the universe.
