A vast proportion of the human population is busy in procuring roti, kapda aur makaan for the comfort of self and family. Everyone who has attained or yet to attain this goal wants happiness. Indeed happiness is a state of mind that is dependant on several factors. Firstly the body that holds the mind should be in good shape, free from pain and discomfort. This requires proper nutrition, exercise and discipline in life. They are difficult to attain, yet achievable. A healthy body can support a healthy mind.

Mind is primarily involved in perception and achievement of happiness. Hence it needs to be trained to remain calm and composed in difficult and provoking situations. It is easier said than done in practice. A lot of self-training and regular practice helps. Meditation does help to train and control the mind. Engage mind in useful thinking. Compassion, love, peace and self-control are rungs of the ladder leading to happiness. Eschew ego, jealousy and ill will. They unnecessarily sap your energy and lead to unhappiness.
