Vidyalankar to host 2011 Quintessence

Quintessence 2011, the two-day event hosted by Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (VIT), commemorated its second year.

Principal Prof Seema Shah said, "Quintessence has been conceived as the fourth pillar necessary for the holistic development of our engineering students after the existing technical, cultural, and sports fests that the Institute has successfully been hosting since the past decade. Along with academics, we give prime importance to encouraging such fests as we believe they will go a long way in equipping students with a forum to unleash their creativity and develop management skills."

The festival was flagged off with the chief guest for the inaugural Bollywood lyricist Nasir Faraaz unveiling the new edition of the Institute's annual magazine Expressions '11. With the theme 'Colours of Emotions', Quintessence '11 was a plethora of educative events. The Vice President of L & T Finance, R Jayakumar conducted a very informative workshop on 'Corporate Culture-the Engineer's Perspective'.

The 'Art Exhibition' brought out the unsung artists' calibre, while 'Photography' brought to light some amazing pictures which captured the essence of the fest. 'Spin a Yarn' was a pedestal for upcoming authors whereas 'Block and Tackle' tested one's spontaneity.

The ever popular 'Quiz', 'Pictionary', 'Word Wrapper' and 'Spelling Bee' had enthusiastic participants thronging the venues.  Some brilliant short films, all made by students were screened at the 'Short Film Contest'. The 'Aptitude Test' and the stress interview 'Last Man Standing' gave a mock placement session experience.

Those well versed in Hindi were put to a tough test in 'Zabaan Sambhal Ke' and 'Shabdon ki Khoj', even as budding poets and orators vied for the top spots in 'Marathi Charoli' and Hindi and Marathi Elocution.
