Unconventional: The new route to success

Choosing an unconventional career after class X is always a difficult decision.

“First of all students must take an aptitude test to understand what is best for them,” said city-based career counsellor, Shreeram Geet. Today a lot of unconventional degree courses are available. Undergraduate degree in mass communication is one such course.

Hotel management is another attractive career choice. BSc hospitality is a unique course offered by Shree Shivaji Preparatory Military School (SSPMS) in Pune, Geet said.

“Students can also pursue a career in animation or design,” said Geet. Some institutes offering this course in Pune are Symbiosis Institute of Design, MIT Institute of Design, Vishwakarma Creative-I College and DSK Supinfocom. Students can also opt for a course in liberal arts. In Pune, Symbiosis Centre for Liberal Arts and FLAME School of Liberal Education offer this course. Students can study a wide range of subjects from cyber law to history of rock music.
