Teachers’ association to boycott evaluation of HSC papers

For the fourth time in the last 10 years, the Maharashtra State Permanently Unaided High School Teachers’ Association has decided hold standard XII students to ransom by declaring boycott of evaluation work of their papers. The threat has been issued at a time when the examinations are underway, increasing the stress on the students and parents. The association is demanding that grants be given to the high schools labelled as permanently unaided.

“I am absolutely clueless as why every time these people put us in a quandary when we are not the right authority to protest against,’’ said Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education secretary Shahaji Dekhane. “Our work will not be affected much as we have a emergency plan ready,’’ he said. 

He added, “We have forwarded them, the letter, which we received from the state government that their demands are being considered. ’’

Tanaji Naik, president of the teachers’ association, said, “For the last 10 years, we have been demanding that the state government remove the tag of ‘permanently unaided’ and gives us grants. But our demands are falling on deaf ears. If we don’t boycott the work, then the government will not act Hence, we
decided to take this action.’’
