‘Supinfomania’ fest enthralls Pune students

A unique and action packed two-day festival of animation, gaming and industrial design, bringing together participants and design students from all over India, ‘Supinfomania 2011’ was organised by the DSK Supinfocom design institute.

A unique and action packed two-day festival of animation, gaming and industrial design, bringing together participants and design students from all over India, ‘Supinfomania 2011’ was organised by the DSK Supinfocom design institute, on March 26-27, at their international campus in Pune.

The event was inaugurated by Jayanta Deb (VP, engineering & design, FIAT, India) and Vinay Shetty (country head, ASUS India). Head of Supinfocom (France), Anne Brotot was also present along with HoDs of animation, gaming and industrial design studies.

Participating students got opportunity to demonstrate their skills and compete in several interesting contests.

A participant from Global Innov, from Mumbai, Apurva Kulkarni said, “I have visited many such design festivals. Coming to Supinfomania fest, has given me a new experience of what happens at the international level.”

Similarly, student from transportation design department, at DSK Supinfocom, Sameer Gaikwad said, “With so many students of designing around, it’s a fruitful experience in networking with them.”

Supinfomania Challenge was a combination of 10 games played by teams each comprising of 5 participants. They collected points by playing a set of strategy and endurance based games like lights sequence, water barrage, basketpult, jumbo jigsaw, movie making, framed and 60 seconds.

Students also showcased their talent in competitions like character designing, light painting, mobile movie making, T-shirt designing, prop games and design a bench. An exhibition of DSK International School of Design student’s creations was also displayed.

Gamers from all over India competed at the finals of Game Kshetra, the biggest and most awaited gaming tournament of the festival. Vice-chairman of DSK, Shirish Kulkarni, informed, “The fest witnessed 800 teams participating in Game Kshetra this year, compared to last year’s 100 teams. The preliminary rounds took place in Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata and Delhi and the champions of these rounds battled it out at the finals at Supinfomania 2011.

For music lovers, there was War of DJs, where DJs showed their skills. The fest ended with live performance by renowned singer KK.
