Std VII student stabs classmate for not letting him copy answers

A class VII student in Odhav stabbed and injured his classmate on Wednesday allegedly after the latter did not allow him to copy from his answer-sheet in their just concluded annual exams.

Sources said the incident happened on the school campus but school authorities denied the same. The incident took place at Karshan Nagar Municipal Primary School in Odhav at 11.30am.

Girish Parmar, 13, was confronted near the stairs of the school by a few students as he came out of the exam centre. The others held him as another juvenile stabbed Girish in the chest with a knife, Odhav police said, adding they are on the look out for the accused.

Girish was rushed to Shardaben Hospital in a 108 ambulance. After undergoing treatment for two days at the government-run hospital in Saraspur, the minor was discharged on Friday. "He (the attacker) caught hold of my son and stabbed him as my son had not allowed the attacker to copy from his answer-sheet during examinations," Gautam Parmar, Girish's father, stated in his complaint filed at Odhav police station.

However, Savita Mandalia, principal of Karshan Nagar Municipal Primary School, said no such incident happened at the school.
But on the other hand, Gautam said in his complaint that after his son was injured he first took him before the school authorities but they refused to help him as the incident did not happen within the school premises.

"They coldly told me that Girish was not injured on the school campus. They challenged me to do whatever I can as, nobody can harm them," Gautam said in his complaint.

Odhav police have filed a case against the assaulter. "On the basis of Gautam's complaint, we have registered a case of assault that took place on the premises of Karshan Nagar Municipal Primary School and are on the look out for the accused," said Odhav police inspector AK Parmar.
