SSLC brings in a shower of good news in Karnataka

It rained success for the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) on Thursday with a whopping 73.90% of the students passing the SSLC exam, the highest so far.

This year’s results records a healthy 10.34% increase in pass percentage as compared with last year’s figures – in itself a record jump in improvement.

Interestingly, three students —Aniketh Sathyanarayan from United High School (Hassan), Nalini H from Vivekananda High School (Bellary), and Vishal J from Vivekananda High School (Bellary)—shared the first rank this time. Each secured 620/625.

The results will be announced at the concerned schools after 11am today (Friday). After announcing the results state primary and secondary education minister Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri said, “We had seen the hitherto highest SSLC results in 2009, which was 73.71%; but this batch of SSLC students (2010-2011) have overcome that record by giving us 73.90 pass percentage in these results.”

To gauge how far the SSLC results have seen an improvement, the worst performance by SSLC students was in 1996 when the overall pass percentage was a measly 43.46%.

This year, Bangalore Rural and Chikkodi districts managed to maintain the first two places. Bangalore Rural bagged the first place by securing 87.43% of students passing and Chikkodi, in the second place, with overall pass percentage of 87.01. Last year, Bangalore Rural was in the second place with 79.21% and Chikkodi was in first place with 79.92%.
