Scottish varsity ties up with Pune college

The Glasgow Caledonian University of Scotland and India's Fergusson College, Pune, have agreed to develop joint curriculum for postgraduate students of various courses in life science.

The agreement is aimed at developing postgraduate and short-term programmes in biology and biomedical science at Fergusson College.

"Through our agreement we hope that students will gain a quality post-graduate study experience and that we will be able to collaborate academically in biological and biomedical research for the benefit of communities in both India and Scotland," Kevan Gartland, Dean of the school of life sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University, said in a statement.

Student interaction programmes, joint research, and exchange of faculty members are also included in the agreement signed as part of the British Council's initiative to promote Scottish universities in India.

The agreement was signed last month between Pamela Gillies, principal and vice-chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University, and Ravindrasinh Pardeshi, principal of Fergusson College. The enrolment for the first batch will begin next year.
