Mihir Tejura, a student from Rajkot, secured the first place at state-level National Science Seminar 2011 held at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

Mihir Tejura, a student from Rajkot, secured the first place at state-level National Science Seminar 2011 held at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad on Tuesday.  He will now represent Gujarat in the national level competition to be held on September 30 in New Delhi.

The seminar at the Science city was themed on 'Chemistry for Human Welfare: Promises and Concerns.' The participants made presentations and faced questions from judges as the part of the competition on the theme.  

Tejura, a student of St Mary's School, Rajkot, made an outstanding presentation and won the competition. Now he will take part in the national-level edition of the contest to which will be held at National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Besides Tejura, three students also gave good performances on Tuesday. Principal of PV Modi School, Rajkot, Himanshu Patel, who was accompanying participant from his school, said, "I have been coming here for four years. Although there is some improvement in student's presentations, you still get a feeling that most of the work is done by teachers. Students merely mug it up."
