Rajkot’s Bela Shah tops in HSC general stream

When Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declared the results of the general stream of the 12th standard on Thursday, Rajkot-based Dholakiya Schools left a mark with their good results all across the state. Four among the board's top ten students from the Saurashtra and Kutch regions are from these schools.

Rajkot-based Bela Shah stood first in the state with 95.71 per cent, with a score of 670 out of 700, while Shyam Parekh was 4th, Harshil Tolia was 6th and Madhaviba Jhala was 7th with 93.86%, 93.57% and 94.43% respectively.

Apart from producing four board rankers, Dholakiya Schools comprising SG Dholakiya School, GK Dholakiya School and LG Dholakiya School have gifted in all 13 district
toppers.

The management of the schools with students, parents and staff members held a procession of Bela Shah on an elephant as soon as her achievement became known. "Giving bright results is the tradition of Dholakiya Schools," said Mitul Dholakiya adding that their students - Ranpara Bhavini and Makhecha Rinkle - stood first across the state in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

Talking about weaker results of students from English medium schools, Dholakiya said, "We were expecting a couple of our students from the English medium to bring above 93-94 per cent in the school's preliminary examinations. But due to some reasons, such students have suffered."
