Pune intercollegiate cultural fest exhibits boundless youth gusto

A two-day intercollegiate cultural festival ‘CREÕ 2011’ of Foundation for Liberal And Management Education (FLAME) ended with an evening of fashion extravaganza and award function on December 11 on Lavale campus in Pune.

The CREÕ festival provided an array of events in the fields of fine arts, literary arts performing arts and management events. The two days were jammed with dance, drama, photography, film-making, sculpturing, carving, fine arts and band events.

The first day of the evening was devoted to pure rock with opening performance from Ashwamedh band followed by stellar performance by popular rock band Agnee.

Overwhelmed by the campus activity during the CREÕ fest, a second-year student of FLAME School of Communication, Vallari Shah, said, “CREÕ is all set to become one of India’s most exciting college fest as it is a confluence of social change and competitive spirit with the unconventional theme of ‘limitless’. The performance by Agnee was full of energy with over 800 students rocking to the music.”

To support social causes through the festival, three NGOs — Maher (working for street women and children from Pune), Advitya (a creative centre for the mentally challenged from Mumbai) and Teach For India (a nationwide movement) were invited on the campus in order to gather support for their cause.

President of the CREÕ organising team and a senior student of FLAME, Purshottam Quenim, said, “From breathtaking artwork to intense theatre performances, participants put in their best to win the coveted crown of creativity. Solo singing was a favourite with the audience as students arrived in large numbers to watch the 22 contenders from 19 colleges exercise their vocal chords.”

He added that over 19 colleges from Pune, including one from Chennai, participated in CREÕ student fest.
