Marginal rise in number of CAT aspirants

The Indian Institutes of Management has announced the preliminary registration data for the Common Admission Test 2011 (CAT 2011).

As CAT 2011 voucher sales ended on October 1, about 2.06 lakh vouchers were sold. The CAT registration window ended at midnight on October 4 with approximately 2.05 lakh registered CAT aspirants. Of these, 73% were male and 27% were female candidates. This marginally exceeds last year’s registrations of 2.04 lakh.

The highest number of candidates has been scheduled to take tests in New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune. Over the next two weeks, Prometric will be reconciling the registration data to produce a final report which will include actual numbers and demographic breakdown of candidates.

“The process has ended smoothly,” said Janakiraman Moorthy, CAT 2011 convenor.
